About Laura

I find inspiration in the beauty of the forest near my home; art and design; reading; and the richness of relationships. My family, friendships, varied spiritual practices, and devotion to the way of Jesus nurture my spirituality. While rooted in the Anabaptist (Mennonite) perspective of the Christian Faith, many traditions have enriched my expanding practice.  I welcome directees of all backgrounds and strive to create a safe, open place for exploring one’s spiritual life.

In addition to offering spiritual direction, I am a Registered Psychotherapist currently working as a Pastoral Care Associate at Hotel Dieu Shaver Rehabilitation Hospital in St. Catharines. I completed a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy) from Martin Luther University College (2019). I have a certificate of Spiritual Direction from the Haden Institute (2012) and a Bachelor of Theology from Canadian Mennonite University (1995). I am a member of the Mennonite Spiritual Directors of Eastern Canada (MSDEC), Spiritual Directors International, and have 20 years of experience in lay church leadership including preaching, group work and resource writing.

Formative experiences in my life include volunteering at the Iona Community (1996); 2 years of voluntary service with the Mennonite Church in South Korea (1996-98); becoming a mother of three children; partnering with my husband on our family farm; and being a part of the leadership team that started Quest Christian Community in St. Catharines, ON (2007-2018).
