Introducing the Contemplative Studio

Several years ago, I began to dream of a small studio space where I could offer spiritual direction and day retreats. We worked on it in stages and I am finally ready to begin using it in the way that I imagined. It is a contemplative studio – a place that I hope will invite reflection, creativity and spiritual growth. While I have been offering spiritual direction in the Studio for the past year, it has felt more daunting to get retreats organized and ready to offer. Having made graduate studies a priority has also had an impact. But ready or not, I feel it is time to stumble my way forward into this dream.

To start with I will hold a ‘retreat open house’ every 3rd Tuesday of the month. The idea is to open the studio for interested folk to drop in between 10 and 3 with a fee of $15. Stay for an hour or the whole time, whatever suits you. I will have art supplies, retreat suggestions, hiking suggestions, and hot drinks in the comfortable, restful space of the studio. Registration is requested REGISTER HERE.

Over the next months I hope to collaborate with other spiritual directors and retreat leaders so  watch for new and innovative retreat opportunities offered at the Contemplative Studio!

  1. Beautiful space, and great idea! I would definitely make use of a space like that if one existed close by. The access to forest trails is also a great asset. Blessings on your retreat open houses!

  2. Hi Laura!

I have a question for you. I am trying to remember which book you lent me. Unfortunately, as I was in a season of mourning a dear friend, my brain was fried most of December and all of January. I know I sat down to read it, but now, I have no idea which book it was and feel badly.

I want to read it and get it back to you, but cannot remember the title. We have numerous books on spirituality and I want to know which one is yours.

So sorry about this! I am excited for you getting your studio up and running!!! Praise God!
